Ever since I was during my studies I’ve joined GSK trainee program in Privileged Access Provisioning. There I had an occasion for a lightning fast development of my knowledge gained during studies all in cooperation with more experienced co-workers. After 8 months of my internship I’ve decided to apply for a vacancy at completely different team and since then I’ve changed position to IT Specialist, Salesforce.com.
Skills which I’ve developed during my internship such as: usage of the SQL language or process management during ITIL training are still used by me in my everyday work.
What matters to me is the fact that GSK keeps growing and constantly searches for new solutions.
It motivates me to learn new things.

I like work in GSK IT, mostly because I’m surrounded by amazing people who I can constantly learn from!

In High School I was sure that if I wanted to help people I needed to become a doctor, but medical studies weren’t meant for me, which turned out to be a good thing. After over 3 years of seeking ‘a place for myself’ while I was studying, I took on a job position in GSK IT. I was still an MA so I threw myself in the deep end. Now I know that it was a good choice and I would do it again. It was unexpected for me that a woman with analytical mind and humanistic predispositions can work as IT Specialist and feel really comfortable in this field. Solving problems hundreds of people from all over the word makes this job a perfect opportunity to fulfill my dream of helping others. After my Modern Greek Philology studies, during which I was combining part-time job with presiding a student organisation ESN, I decided to look for real career opportunities. A friend of mine encouraged me to apply for a position at GSK IT. I became a member of a team where I could develop my soft skills. Moreover, I had the possibility to learn how a global organisation works and develop my presentational skills as a member of Toast Masters. Since April, 2017 I have been working in Content Authoring Team. My current position gives me an opportunity to learn how to work within AEM environment. I really appreciate the variety of challenges which rules out boredom and routine, leaving only opportunities for improvement and inspiring cooperation.

As a person who graduated from studies not related with IT, I had to learn a lot about the IT area, but GSK IT provided me with all tools and knowledge necessary to advance. A-TEAM, an internal group of Interns, enabled me to establish good relationships with coworkers since the very beginning. The amazing atmosphere and people willing to help and advise make me appreciate my workplace a lot. I am a student of the 5th year of spatial development at the University of Life Sciences in Poznan, the interest in IT appeared on the first year of engineering studies, where I carried out such an object as information technology. Before starting recruitment to GSK for internship I had some concerns about my qualifications, but it soon turned out that I had the opportunity to develop my skills and acquire new ones. I am currently in the Document Tech Operations team, where I met wonderful and helpful people who willingly give me their knowledge so that I develop every day. In addition, GSK offers a series of training courses that develop soft and technical skills, which I can use as an intern. The fact that GSK provides flexible working hours is something that for me as a student is very important, it allows me to both study and gain experience through work. A great atmosphere and high personal culture is something that is common in our company.

For the past decade, I had different roles in numerous IT areas and currently I am as IT Manager for Backup Service Operations. Collaboratively with my counterpart in Kuala Lumpur we manage the service globally. Teams in GSK IT provide service for a wide spectrum of internal customers, supporting GSK sites worldwide. I worked for a few IT-related companies but their scope was limited only to Poland. GSK IT gave me a chance to work globally. What I value the most is that I have constant possibilities to undertake new tasks around IT field. Also you get to know new positions or occupations. The really important thing is that GSK IT puts strong emphasis on office culture. We want our services to get better and better every day, but at the same time we are beware of rat race. Moreover what we deliver as a company really does matter. Our medicines often save lives.

When I began my work here I was responsible for administration, then infrastructure and global application. I managed global service and improved our business. I have new challenges ahead now– I have new team and new application to run. In 2 years’ time I’d like to say: it works! Then I’ll start to look for new opportunities-still in GSK IT.
